Profiles

The next series continues the exploration of the self-portrait, but shifts the perspective — the face is captured in profile. The drawings are constructed from a dense, heavy graphic matter that almost condenses into a structure resembling compressed energy. Lines arrange themselves into forms filled with tension, as if beneath the surface of the paper a force capable of explosion had accumulated. This cycle develops earlier explorations, shifting the emphasis from gesture to the intensity of structure.
